My name is Fatimah Foster, a Rutgers University student studying Journalism and Media Studies with a minor in Digital Communication and Information in the Media and Entrepreneurship. I’m super excited to be a Style Guru again, this time writing for the LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS section.
A little about myself: I like things that are over the top, yet simple and then crazy, yet calm. I would describe my style as an ever-changing array of mixtures coming from a multitude of varying inspirations. I am very into thrifting for vintage pieces, pairing them with the latest trends and then adding a grunge feel to the mix while still keeping it girly. Besides that, I absolutely love television and movies, surfing the Internet for random information that will somehow stimulate my mind and simply having fun.
I consider myself a free spirit, as I like to take on different challenges, take anything that life hands me and make the best of it. As a young adult whose mind is constantly changing, one thing that remains stable is my love for fashion. For me, fashion has always brought me to a therapeutic place and been my creative outlet. What I admire most about street style is seeing other people’s fashion visions come together and reflect their own style or personality. That is what I hope to display through my discoveries of you beautiful people.
I’m excited to see what everyone will be wearing this spring, as the fall was filled with some amazing fashion trends. As Alexander McQueen said, “It’s a new era in fashion—there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels and up-and-coming designers all together.” I hope everyone is as excited as I am.
